Brief Description
Primary duties will focus on configuration management of clients owned Network equipment. This colleague will be responsible for creating and maintaining the audits that align to the baseline feature standards set forth by the clients Network Engineering team. Additionally, this colleague will be responsible for timely configuration remediation for configurations not in line with existing standards. Finally, this colleague will also provide strategic oversight of the growth of the Python based audit system used to perform the above duties.
Detailed Description
Creation and maintenance of Python based business rule logic scripts that identify compliancy of Network devices (Router, Switch, Firewall, Load Balancer, Proxy Server) to Standards.
Python script based Remediation of device configuration inconsistencies.
Serve as Level 3 support for the Level 1/2 drift analyst team members. This will include escalation for difficult drift cases and troubleshooting of system issues.
Strategic planning & roadmapping of feature functionality enhancements to current Python audit / drift management system.
Work with Tier IV Engineering team for re-baselining of existing feature standards, and development of new feature standards.
Serve as Network configuration management "Expert" - tracking and monitoring trends to help leadership understand problem areas and possible growth opportunities, in addition to helping Engineering and Leadership teams understand current state of baselines to assist with Risk & Audit queries.
Maintain and document Network based Configuration Management / Drift Management processes and procedures.
Create all required technical documentation in accordance with the clients Change Control and project management processes and procedures
Work with leadership & the clients Configuration Management team to understand upcoming requirements and provide insight into process enhancements.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Min 5 years of experience in networking technologies such as routers, switches, VPN appliances, firewalls, proxy's, load Balancers, DNS appliances, wireless devices
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced understanding of networking technologies such as routers, switches, Firewalls, Proxies, Load Balancers
Advanced understanding of UNIX/Linux and scripting languages; Python, JavaScript, VBScript, Perl or Tcl
Advanced understanding of API calls, data structures, transport protocols (SOAP, REST, etc.)
Advanced understanding of Network Automation
Demonstrable ability to learn and apply technical skills
Effective Time Management with ability to adjust to changing priorities and handling multiple initiatives
Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to adapt to the audience
Familiarity of Network Management Products (NetMRI, ManageEngine, Splunk, HP BTO, Zenoss)
Experience facilitating group sessions to gather requirements with ability to ask relevant questions to drill into the details
Experience tracking and driving deliverables to completion
Works well under pressure and with deadlines
Preferred Certifications:
Cisco CCNA / CCNP
