Description
Lab Test Engineer
7 or more years of device testing & certification experience in lab or in the field.
Good understanding of wireless technologies including VoLTE, VoWiFi, 4G, 5G (SA and NSA) network architecture and protocols.
2 year of experience in triaging device defects on Android or iOS devices.
2 year of experience in device logging tools like QXDM, XCAP, XCAL etc.
Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Good interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and problem-solving skills.
Strong motivator and communicator both verbally and through written instruction
BS/BE degree in related discipline strongly desired (e.g. Engineering)
Preferred
Master's degree in engineering or related field with 5 years' experience.
Strong knowledge of WiFi, 4G, 5G (SA & NSA) call flows and network architecture.
2 year of experience in working on iOS & Android devices in a carrier lab & field certification environment.
1 year of experience in managing requirements in JIRA or equivalent.
Prior experience in device testing automation or knowledge of test script is preferred.
Must be able to work in Philadelphia office daily.
Experience with Keysight test equipment is a plus.
Responsibilities:
Support the XM performance team for measuring the wireless network performance including 4G, 5G and Wi Fi network Mobile.
Develop and maintain testing strategy, test plans and test cases for measuring the overall customer experience.
Collect logs and perform triaging of defects from device testing.
Perform a walk test in the field to simulate some customer experience use cases.
Prepare the test report and presentation to show the test finding.
Coordinate debugging sessions between OEMs and engineering teams to investigate issues for resolution.
Support other device technology initiatives & new feature rollout within including Data offload over WiFi, Data offload over CBRS network via DSDS, mmWave, 5G SA etc.
Ability to work adhere to all NDAs and work on confidential projects. Able to drive technical conversations with OEM partners with regards to device defects and debugging as needed.
Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams deliver activities and tasks necessary for successful launch and achievement of business objectives.
Responsibility:
- Responsible for design development implementation and analysis of technical products and systems.
- Performs engineering design evaluations. May develop a range of products.
- Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
- Responsible for troubleshooting diagnosing and fixing production software issues. Development of monitoring solutions performing software maintenance and implementing solutions
- Develop standards and procedures for measuring product quality and release readiness
- Make recommendations related to testing techniques and processes
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering and at least 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts practices and procedures within a particular field.
- Experience automating the deployment of software using tools such as Puppet Chef and Ansible
- Experience of Jenkins for continuous integration
- Ability to utilize and work with a large variety of open source technologies and tools
- Experience with systems and IT operations
- Data management skills with an emphasis in automation tools
- Experienced with revision control systems including branching and tagging strategies using Github
- Able to build strong relationships with QA and Software Engineers in an operational capacity to maintain continuous delivery of critical systems
- Experience provisioning and managing applications in both virtual and cloud infrastructures AWS and Openstack preferred
- Strong skillset in deployment and network operations or sys-admins who have experience in scripting and coding
- Container experience in Docker and Kubernetes
