Job Overview
As a Network Infrastructure Specialist with TEKsystems, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining telecommunications networks. This role involves installing work area outlets, building closets, and performing various testing tasks. You will also identify active voice or data circuits and assume responsibility for the effective performance of your crew.
Key Responsibilities
- Install work area outlets for floor, modular furniture, and wall, terminating CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mounting face plates, and surface mount boxes correctly, adhering to IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards.
- Build closets by mounting and installing backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic, and hardware, and install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required.
- Perform testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable, use of volt-ohmmeter, troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable, and use a tone set.
- Identify active voice or data circuits.
- Assume responsibility for effective performance of crew and provide necessary training, coordinate personnel and timeline to complete project.
- Complete all IES COMMERCIAL paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, and others as required).
- Adhere to and participate in all Company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
