Job Description

Position Summary

  • We are seeking a Managed Services Technical Writer to provide ongoing documentation services for the client's Legal Technology team.
  • This role will serve as a dedicated documentation resource, managing and maintaining all process documentation, user guides, and technical content for the legal department's technology systems and workflows.
  • The position will establish a managed documentation service that ensures consistent, high-quality documentation support for legal technology initiatives.

Service Scope

  • Dedicated technical writing support for legal technology initiatives
  • Create documentation for new tools, processes or tech
  • Ongoing maintenance of existing legal technology documentation by request
  • Proactive regular review and updates of existing documentation
  • Documentation project management and planning
  • Monthly service reporting and metrics
  • Regular stakeholder meetings and engagement over email and messages. The tech
  • writer must be available during these times in order to engage with US stakeholders: Monday-Friday between 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM Eastern Time.

Key Responsibilities

Documentation Services

  • Provide managed documentation services for legal technology platforms and tools
  • Maintain and update documentation for legal workflows and processes
  • Create and manage user guides for all legal applications and for various audiences
  • Document system integrations and technical specifications
  • Develop training materials for legal technology platforms

Process Documentation

  • Document (in both written language and schematics/diagrams) legal technology workflows and procedures
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Document system configurations and settings
  • Maintain knowledge base articles for legal tools
  • Create quick reference guides and job aids

Service Management

  • Prioritize documentation needs based on team requirements
  • Track documentation projects and deliverables
  • Provide regular status updates to stakeholders
  • Secure stakeholder approval on final deliverable(s)
  • Report on documentation metrics and completion rates

Quality Control

  • Maintain documentation standards and templates
  • Ensure consistent formatting and terminology
  • Manage document review and approval processes
  • Track document versions and updates
  • Maintain documentation inventory

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of technical writing experience
  • Experience providing managed documentation services
  • Strong understanding of legal technology platforms
  • Proven experience managing documentation projects
  • Advanced skills in documentation tools and platforms
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Professional Attributes

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information in a clear and concise manner to technical and non-technical audiences located in the United States and Globally is a must
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication
  • Experience working with legal professionals is preferred
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Service-oriented mindset

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint
  • Ability to create process maps and workflows
  • Knowledge of legal technology applications preferred
  • Proficiency with Design and visualization tools such as Snagnit; Canva, Visio or Lucid chart preferred
  • Proficiency with video tools such as Camtasia or Loom a plus
  • Service Level Expectations- any deviation to the SLA must be approved by the client
  • 24-hour response time to documentation requests
  • 48-hour turnaround for minor updates
  • 5-day turnaround for new documentation
  • Monthly documentation inventory reports
  • Quarterly documentation review cycles
  • Regular backup and archiving of documentation

Service Delivery Requirements

  • Maintain service level agreements for documentation requests
  • Provide monthly service reports
  • Attend regular status meetings
  • Track and report on documentation metrics
  • Provide regular status updates to stakeholders
  • Meet the standard Service Level Expectations for all projects; any exceptions must
  • have prior approval from stakeholders

Working Parameters

  • Remote work arrangement
  • Standard business hours with flexibility for time zone coverage
  • Regular check-ins with legal technology team
  • Dedicated office hours for documentation consultations
  • Weekly status reporting

Documentation Standards

  • Follow the client's legal department style guide
  • Maintain consistent formatting and terminology
  • Ensure accessibility standards compliance
  • Follow document control procedures
  • Maintain version control standards
