Job Description
Who we're looking for
- Client's Vehicle Prototype Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Prototype Assembly Technician.
- The primary responsibility of this role is to support planning and preparation for Prototype Assembly builds, lead a team of approximately 5 NAMC T/Ms during large CV builds, and participate in vehicle assembly during small retrofit builds and support in Evaluation processes as needed.
- Reporting to the Prototype Development Assembly Supervisor, the person in this role will support the Prototype department's objective to build prototype evaluation vehicles and support vehicle development during the drawing stage.
What you'll be doing
- Assembly and retrofitting vehicles for major/minor model changes.
- Identify, document and initial troubleshooting of issues during assembly.
- Station leader for current and future major model builds this includes creating detailed operating plans, training ~5 plant assembly TMs to perform Assembly processes and communicating vehicle concerns to Assembly project leaders.
- Perform vehicle evaluations in relation to routing quality, serviceability, and water leak.
- Standardize internal processes, conduct reflection, and propose continuous improvement activities.
- Participate in problem solving activities Client Business Practice, Quality Circles and JKK
- The client Safety Management System ownership.
Requirements:
What you bring
- 3 years automotive prototype assembly experience or a combination of automotive experience and advanced technical training.
- 1 year experience setting up vehicle assembly processes
- 1 year experience Team leadership
- Experience using CAD software to manipulate vehicle data (CATIA, XVL, etc.) (Beginner)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel for data/scheduling, PowerPoint for creating presentations and Word for creating weekly reports) (Beginner)
What you may bring
- Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing vehicle electronics (2 or more yrs)
- Experience working with KPIs for goal setting and process management (1yr)
- Experience performing vehicle evaluations against documented standards (1yr)
- Experience using AutoCAD for shop floor layout (Beginner)
