DEPARTMENT / TEAM DESCRIPTION :
HR Operations Payroll Processing and Payroll Tax. The team is responsible for processing US (incl Puerto Rico) and Canada payroll and tax filings.
POSITION SUMMARY :
This position is responsible for oversight of US and Puerto Rico payroll and payroll tax process, policies and practices with a heavy focus on payroll tax. This position is responsible for providing employment tax expertise and coaching to the payroll and payroll tax analysts, coordinating payroll and payroll tax processes and practices, process improvement and is responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, provincial, and local regulations. This position will provide oversight of the process as well as tactical support as necessary.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
List the primary job duties and responsibilities using headings and then give examples of the types of activities under each heading.
Identify six to eight duties and responsibilities for the position, including how tasks are accomplished and anticipated results.
Provide coaching and expert guidance to payroll team members
Oversight and accountability for timely delivery on Federal, State, and Local employment tax returns, filings, and payments.
Filing W2Cs and identifying opportunities to reduce corrections where possible.
Coordination of payments to deceased employees.
Provide support to payroll tax analysts with agency inquiries and notices from federal, state, and local taxing authorities.
Resolve employee inquires via email and SNOW (service Now) ticketing system.
Lead the payroll responsibilities on complex projects (e.g. legal entity restructuring)
Coordinate and execute monthly SAP system testing including SAP Tax changes and SUI Rate Changes and ensuring all jurisdictions and rates are tested properly.
Partner with Cross Boarder Workforce and EY on assignee tax activities for the US and Canada and drive process improvement.
REQUIREMENTS / PREFERENCES
Education Requirement(s) :
Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience, or equivalent relevant work experience within Payroll Tax or Accounting.
Skill & Competency Requirements :
Strong coaching skills and demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others.
Confidence in autonomous decision making.
Strong ability to analyze data; identify root-cause of issues & drive process improvement.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex payroll tax issues and an understanding of US, Puerto Rico, and Federal, State, Local and Providence payroll tax regulations.
Demonstrated understanding of US & Puerto Rico W2 / W2C reporting & filings requirements
Ability to maintain confidentiality with highly sensitive information & adhere to data privacy & internal compliance requirements.
