Clinical Nurse Specialist

About the Role

• Assess resident complaints and determine necessary actions, notifying supervisors when required.
• Admit and transfer residents to and from other units or outside sources, ensuring seamless care transitions.
• Administer oral and injectable medication, including controlled substances, in accordance with facility policy and Florida law.
• Monitor for side effects or adverse reactions to medication and report to assigned supervisors or further assessment and treatment.
• Promote continuity of care by preparing paperwork for consults within the facility and outside appointments.
• Coordinate residents' appointments with unit staff to ensure timely administration of medications and facilitate smooth resident movement.
• Provide emergency medical/psychiatric treatment within scope of practice, as defined by facility and Florida law, and notify supervisors for further assistance when needed.
• Complete incident reports accurately and objectively, adhering to the facility's timeline.
• Maintain up-to-date progress notes on resident care, following the facility's guidelines.
• Educate residents on their rights and advocacy issues, adhering to facility policies and maintaining professionalism throughout interactions.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old and hold unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• A minimum of one year of acute care experience or two years of clinical nursing experience is required.
• CPR certification is mandatory, or completion of training is expected.
• The ability to fulfill physical demands of the position, including lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, remaining alert while on duty, and working occasional 16-hour shifts.
