Job Description
Who will you be working with?
- Shuttlewagon, a client is looking for an production painter. The painter will work collaboratively with others in similar roles to produce highly engineered, custom built mobile material handling machinery for rail related markets.
- How will you make a difference?
- As a member of the Services Division, you will be responsible for painting fabricated parts, components, or units in a paint booth. You will also use hand and power tools to paint units according to product specifications. Team members may assist less experienced team members with knowledge and expertise.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 3-5 years in custom or production paint shop preferred
- Technical Skills
- Ability to read and understand blue prints
- Ability to operate a computer to read and input data
- Ability to operate hand tools and read measuring devices
- Ability to read and interpret 3D prints/schematics to complete standard work
- Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management
- Ability to hold themselves accountable for results
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to think critically and troubleshoot problems
- Desire to win
- Read and follow standard work, BOM’s, blueprints, routings, specifications and other diagrams/instructions in order to paint parts and equipment in an accurate and timely fashion
- Obtain necessary tools and equipment
- Handle material, tools and equipment manually or with jib crane, performing own hitching as required
- Follows piping diagrams or other instructions to connect hydraulic/pneumatic hosing or piping accurately and timely
- Maintain high quality standards
- Consistently maintains level of productivity as determined by management
- Spray paint parts as required
- Parts prep through the use of sandblaster, hand sanding tools, and other methods
- Application of industrial primer & paint using a pressure pot spray system or gravity fed spray gun
- Application of two part corrosion resistant undercoating
- Clean, touchup, and final inspection of finished railcar mover before shipment
- Prioritized work to ensure production areas and warehouse receive parts as needed
- Use a variety of hand and power tools following appropriate methods and procedures
- Maintain a clean/organized work area through daily 5S and maintain equipment accordingly
- Comply with all safety requirements and company policies
- Operation of overhead cranes, forklifts, and other lifting devices
- Safe operation of finished mobile rail car movers
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities or events as required
- Adhere to Quality Management System Requirements
- 5S activities
- Ability to read and comprehend procedures written in English
- Employee is required to wear appropriate PPE such as steel toe boots and safety glasses and respiration systems
- Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, bend, work underneath equipment, reach above shoulders, and climb
- Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment including seasonal variation in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or by-products
- You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
