- Accurately locate directional drill heads and provide precise direction to drill operator
- Properly mark discovered utilities, completing any necessary paperwork and photographing each locate
- Correctly, safely and efficiently locate the infrastructure placed by Company operations
- Hand dig using shovel and/or mechanical tools
- Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery in congested and/or remote settings
- Maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
- Perform general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor
- Flagging, property or work-site restoration as needed
- Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies
- Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic
- Previous experience operating locating equipment used in the function of directional drilling
- Must have a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
- Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner
- Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
- May be required to work overtime; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on-call as needed to ensure work is completed
- Travel is required
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Valid State driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- Previous experience in cable/utility locating
- Routinely: work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, lift up to 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
- Occasionally: use portable ladder, work in confined spaces and climb stairs
