Position: Credentialing Specialist
Reports To: Medical Staff Services Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Medical Staff Services Specialist. As a critical member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing the complex and demanding task of scheduling provider shifts and ensuring proper coverage at all times. This role will also be responsible for screening providers’ applications and supporting documentation to serve as the first level of review in determining provider eligibility. This role requires proficiency in scheduling and credentialing software, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with medical staff.
Essential Functions:
· Coordinate and manage the schedules of providers, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts and client sites.
· Collaborate with team members and physician leadership to understand their scheduling needs and preferences.
· Identify discrepancies in information and conduct follow-ups
· Present applications to the Teledigm’s Credentialing Committee
· Assist clients with credentialing inquiries
· Respond to health plan provider inquiries
· Capture primary source documentation in computer databases
· Utilize scheduling software to create and maintain accurate and up-to-date schedules.
· Monitor and anticipate changes in provider availability, adjusting schedules as needed.
· Communicate schedule changes to providers and client sites, ensuring clear and timely communication.
· Resolve scheduling conflicts and find suitable solutions in a timely manner.
· Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in physician scheduling and credentials verification, continuously improving processes and workflows.
· Assists the credentialing department with new applications and the reappointment process.
· Prepares credentialing reports and action items.
- Coordinates procurement of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) information, licensure and malpractice insurance information.
- Communicates information to customers regarding Medical Staff professional appointment, privileges and resignations. Collects and maintains appropriate records.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in provider credentialing or a similar role.
- Motivated and proactive with superior organizational skills, the Medical Staff Specialist must have the ability to balance and manage competing priorities and demonstrate flexibility in moving between tasks and projects.
- Highly motivated problem solver.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, managing multiple projects and varying priorities.
- Ability to transition easily from independent work to team involvement.
- Excellent communication skills with multiple organizational levels.
- Strong affinity to understanding new technology.
