Job Summary
A Manufacturing Engineer (ME) is needed at Teledyne Qioptiq Electronic Solutions in Miamsiburg, OH. The ideal candidate has a strong background in machining and can work in a low volume, high mix environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and updates work instructions to ensure quality and process controls;
- Trains production operators and performs coordination with other operations to meet schedules and minimize costs;
- Supports machining applications for close tolerance glass/ceramic to metal piece parts and assists in trouble shooting and fixture design;
- Investigates manufacturing problems and initiates corrective actions;
- Reviews engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommends changes to enhance production;
- Improves processes by eliminating waste and implementing cost saving ideas;
- Maintains a safe work environment by building safety into work instructions;
- Conducts job hazard analysis when necessary.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in an engineering discipline and/or machining certificate;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment;
- Experience with G-Code and CNC programming is desired;
- Previous experience working with CNC Okuma Crown L1060 lathe is desired;
- Strong understanding/experience of blueprints and GD&T;
- Strong understanding/experience of gauging and measurement techniques and equipment is a plus;
- Supervisory experience in a manufacturing role is a plus;
- Fixture and tooling design experience is a plus;
- Experience using DFMEA, PFMEA and DFA/DFM methodologies;
- Proactive communication and interpersonal skills while working in cross-functional teams;
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills;
- Green or Black Belt certification is a plus;
- Note: U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED due to Department of Energy requirements.
