Summary
The Buyer will plan, schedule and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials purchases. Obtain materials using engineering and production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels (i.e., Just in Time purchases, use of EOQ - Economic Order Quantities). Resolve discrepancies. At this level, tasks and assignments tend to be general but may involve complex and/or non-routine assignments and duties are performed under limited supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Creates and maintains bills of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other enterprise-wide systems.
- Ensures material standards are met and non-conformances or variances are approved and/or minimized.
- Develops specifications for new contract orders.
- Gathers quotations, examines bids, makes awards and follows-up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of parts.
- Monitors cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.
- Evaluates vendor reliability and develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive or fail to meet Reynolds’ expected on-time delivery.
- Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, collaborating with management, sales, production or engineering.
- Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines.
Other potential responsibilities:
- Implements blanket agreements and SPA/LTA’s that comply with company and Government Regulations.
- Participate in annual inventory cycle count.
- Analyzing market trends.
- Track OTD via TIPQA Quality Module.
- Conducting supplier visits as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Minimum 3 years of buying experience within an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Precision and complex machining supplier experience preferred.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with other employees of organization.
- Must have above average knowledge of MS Outlook; MS Excel and MS Word software.
- Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.
- Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen
- Knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP…)
