Job Description

Position Summary:
  • This position influences Quality for the manufacturing site. The Quality Program Manager will engage with all departments in the development and execution of plans to improve the overall quality of the site. The Quality Program Manager serves as a catalyst for change and continuous improvement within the organization. Candidate must demonstrate strong commitment to team development and proven ability to lead through influence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish/maintain/monitor QMS scorecard and quality KPI metrics relative to the manufacturing site initiatives.
  • Overall responsibility for maintaining effective QMS system in compliance with ISO9001 and additional quality related customer requirements.
  • Conduct periodic QMS reviews and update upper management on results.
  • Consult with the various management teams on strategic initiatives as well as other critical issues. Collaborate with management to develop business practices and procedures that support Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Lead for quality contract review, quoting, and flow down through to order release.
  • Responsible for identifying/supporting/tracking the various Quality continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
  • Responsible for the effective execution of internal and external, and supplier audits, as well as hosting customer audits as required.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key customer quality representatives to fully understand customers’ quality requirements.
  • Develop and manage the assigned departmental operational budgets.
  • Track the Price of Nonconformance costs – identifying and drive opportunities and address root causes.
  • Facilitate, train and promote “Zero-defect” methodology for all processes. Lead the organization to meet/exceed quality goals and commitments.
  • Work with management to ensure best practices are shared across the organization and business unit.
  • Overall responsibility for effective root cause analysis, CAPA and timely/routine communication with the customer(s). Conduct risk assessment to determine priority and level of actions and reporting.
  • Train/develop quality personnel and teams.
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum BS degree in a technical discipline; BSME/BSEE preferred.
  • Minimum 8-12 year’s experience in an ISO manufacturing environment; Cable/connectors and/or regulated industries preferred.
  • 5 plus year’s experience with Defense programs – Navy preferred
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma desired.
  • Quality management/engineering background with ASQ certifications desired; examples: CQE/CRE/CQM/CQA.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve quality, cost, and delivery goals.
  • In-depth Problem Solving/Root Cause Analysis and risk analysis (5-Why/FMEA/FTA).
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to lead teams & influence decisions based on facts and process thinking.
  • Ability to build credibility and trust by demonstrating high ethical standards.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that are Action oriented and customer focused.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
  • Experience and understanding of MRP/ERP manufacturing systems.
  • Working knowledge of data management systems and statistical tools.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Direct supervision of Quality Assurance personnel.
Training Requirements:
  • ERP system overview
  • Quality Management System overview
  • Hazardous Communications
Physical Demands:
  • Light physical effort equal to occasional movement of product or documentation
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk throughout the facility
Work Environment:
  • This position requires periods of working behind a desk, performing tasks on computer.
  • Significant periods of standing or walking throughout the facility to interface with other associates.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • The use of Safety Glasses and PPE is required when walking throughout all production areas of the facility.
Employee will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
