Job Title : IT Help Desk

Location : Sparta, NJ

Job Summary :

The IT Help Desk Technician is the first point of contact for customers requiring assistance. This role is responsible for the processing and resolution of Information Technology (IT) support tickets in the ITS ticket system and creating tickets for all IT issues received by any communication channel other than directly to the ticket system.

Job Description :

  • Creates and manages documentation to help support the resolution of tickets and works to prevent IT issues in the future.
  • Uses documentation, knowledge and skills to triage and resolve ticketed IT issues.
  • Reassigns issues outside of their ability to solve to Senior IT Help Desk Technician, including documentation of all the steps and procedures they followed up until that point.
  • Participates in IT migration, change, expansion, and upgrade projects.
  • Advises and recommends purchasing of IT related software and hardware to solve tickets with their direct supervisor.
  • Uses the ITS ticket system to document all incoming requests for help, providing timely responses and resolutions that meet agreed upon SLA goals.
  • Determines the best solution to requests based on the issue and details provided by reporter.
  • Creates documentation detailing the steps to resolve requests adding it to our ITS Department’s Wiki body of knowledge.
  • Solves tickets that may include, but are not limited to :

Networking (LAN, WAN, internet, networking devices, Wi-Fi, Firewall).

  • Network expansion (Ethernet runs, cable runs, termination).
  • System access, Authentication, Access, New Accounts.
  • Hardware (PCs, printers, servers, cables, peripherals).
  • Operating Systems (Windows, Mac, Linux).
  • Applications (Office, CRM, Browsers, 3rd Party applications).
  • Routine maintenance, testing, service packs, patches, hotfixes, and software updates.
  • Provides application training and maintains documentation of application usage and systems inventory.
  • Pursues technical knowledge and personal development.
  • Works to improve Documentation, training, and the efficiency of request ticket support.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
  • Requirements :

    Knowledge, Skills, & Capabilities :

  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Excellent communication, troubleshooting skills, and technical / non-technical writing skills.
  • Able to write and maintain scripts with experience with command line tools, such as Linux Terminal, Bash, and PowerShell.
  • Capable of troubleshooting :
  • Microsoft Windows

  • MacOS
  • Windows applications
  • Hardware peripherals
  • Networking and Cables
  • Proficient in Windows 11 and 10. Proficiency with Macs is a plus.
  • Knowledge of networking configuration concepts such as TCP / IP, LAN switching, wireless, and firewall technologies.
  • Knowledge of non-EOL Windows Server versions, including features and roles : Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS.
  • Knowledge and experience with Windows Exchange Server 2013 or above.
  • Experience with Hypervisors such as Hyper-V and VMware.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Frequently lifts and moves standard office equipment such as computers, monitors, workstations, servers, photocopiers, and printers weighing at least 50 lbs.
  • Work Environment :

  • Professional office environment.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles due to necessary communication with warehouse personnel.
  • Occasionally exposed to noise levels that is moderate to high.
  • Education :

  • Associate's degree in relevant area of study preferred.
  • CompTIA A preferred.
  • Experience :

  • At least 1 to 2 years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Hours : Full-Time Monday-Friday

    8 : 30am-5pm. Temp to perm

    Pay : $22-$24 DOE

    Salary : $22 - $24
