Job Title: Fiber Optic Splicer/Trainee
We are seeking skilled and motivated Fiber Optic Splicers and Trainees to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic infrastructure. Splicers will lead projects and train Trainees, while Trainees will gain valuable experience and develop their skills under the guidance of experienced professionals.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Splicers:
- Follow established procedures for splicing fiber optic cables, ensuring proper connections and minimal signal loss.
- Utilize various tools and equipment, including fusion splicers, cleavers, and cleaning supplies.
- Train and mentor Trainees in splicing techniques and best practices.
- Lead splicing projects and ensure quality control.
- Trainees:
- Assist Splicers in preparing and handling fiber optic cables.
- Learn proper cable handling techniques, including pulling, reeling, and coiling.
- Assist with cable placement and routing in conduits, trenches, and aerial installations.
- Learn to operate and maintain splicing equipment under supervision.
- Actively participate in training and development opportunities.
- Both Splicers and Trainees:
- Assist with site preparation and cleanup.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Maintain a safe work environment and report any safety hazards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Splicer or Field Operations Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Splicers:
- Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Splicer.
- Strong understanding of splicing techniques and best practices.
- Ability to train and mentor Trainees.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Trainees:
- Basic understanding of fiber optic technology.
- Eagerness to learn and develop splicing skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Both Splicers and Trainees:
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, carrying, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commitment to safety.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with overtime and weekend work as needed.
- Work is primarily performed outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Travel to job sites may be required.
