We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Scientist II to join our radiochemistry laboratory. In this role, you will lead and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of radiopharmaceutical production processes. This position requires a strong background in radiochemistry, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a regulated laboratory environment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Radiochemical Synthesis and Development:
- Design and execute advanced radiochemical synthesis protocols to develop novel radiopharmaceuticals.
- Optimize synthesis and purification methods to improve yield, quality, and scalability for clinical and commercial applications.
- Analytical Method Development:
- Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, GC, TLC, spectroscopy) for quality control and characterization of radiopharmaceutical products.
- Interpret and report analytical data to ensure product specifications and regulatory compliance.
- Process Optimization and Scale-Up:
- Lead efforts to refine radiochemical production processes, focusing on efficiency, reproducibility, and adherence to GMP/GLP standards.
- Collaborate with production teams to transfer and scale-up processes for manufacturing.
- Regulatory and Quality Compliance:
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with regulatory requirements, including GMP, GLP, and radiation safety protocols.
- Contribute to the preparation of regulatory documents and technical dossiers.
- Laboratory Operations and Instrumentation:
- Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure a high-quality working environment.
- Data Management and Reporting:
- Analyze experimental data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to publications, grant proposals, and conference presentations.
- Collaboration and Leadership:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality Assurance, and Production, to drive project success.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior scientists and technicians.
- Innovation and Research:
- Stay informed on advancements in radiochemistry, radiopharmaceutical development, and regulatory trends.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Radiochemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field with 5 years of experience, or M.S. with 3 years of relevant experience, or PhD with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in radiochemical synthesis, including handling of radioactive materials and isotopes.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques, including HPLC, GC, TLC, and spectroscopy.
- Experience with GMP/GLP compliance and regulatory documentation for radiopharmaceuticals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex laboratory processes.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage projects and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
