What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Caseworker III position at Teller County?
A caseworker is sought by Teller County's Department of Human Services to provide initial response and child protection and Youth in Conflict services, including crisis assessments and intervention, as well as supervising the placement of children out-of-home.
Responsibilities:
- Intervene in youth and child protection crises, perform assessments, and investigate cases of alleged physical/sexual abuse and/or neglect in conjunction with law enforcement.
- Locate appropriate placements, supervise placements of children out of home, monitor client needs and progress, and coordinate child/family visits.
- Provide casework, guidance, and support for clients, and counsel children, youth, and parents to prepare for family reunification.
- Prepare and coordinate service plans and reports with professional resources in the community, and refer clients to other resources.
- Testify in court regarding intake and ongoing cases as necessary, and make recommendations to the Court.
- Maintain confidential client records and reports on computerized systems, document plans and recommendations, and submit files and records for foster care and court review.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in human behavioral science.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related professional caseworker experience in a public or private social services agency, with at least one year post-degree.
- Master's degree preferred.
This position requires daily routine computer usage, ability to drive a vehicle, light physical exertion, and normal range of motion and dexterity. The work schedule is 40 hours per week, with availability outside normal business hours, including weekends, may be required. A valid Colorado driver's license and successful completion of the Colorado Child Welfare Training Academy within 90 days from date of hire are also required.
