Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this critical role, you will provide care to expectant mothers during labor and delivery, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both mothers and newborns. You will work collaboratively with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the health status of mothers and infants throughout the labor process.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding the labor and delivery process.
- Administer medications and manage intravenous (IV) therapy as needed.
- Perform triage assessments to determine the urgency of patient needs.
- Assist in the delivery of newborns, including immediate post-delivery care.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient, documenting all assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans for patients.
- Educate patients on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn care practices.
- Participate in case management activities to ensure continuity of care for patients.
Requirements
- Current nursing license in good standing.
- Experience in labor and delivery nursing preferred but not required; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Proficiency in home community care practices is a plus.
- Familiarity with tube feeding techniques is beneficial.
- Knowledge of urgent care protocols is advantageous.
- Experience with mammography procedures is a nice-to-have skill.
- Familiarity with Athenahealth or similar electronic medical record systems is preferred.
- Strong triage skills to assess patient needs effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
