What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Copywriter (Remote) position at Telnyx?
The Role
We’re looking for a Technical Copywriter to join our marketing team and craft compelling technical content that educates our audience and showcases Telnyx as a thought leader in cloud communications. In this role, you will create and curate content across blogs, social media, and other channels, translating complex telecom and API concepts into clear, engaging narratives for a tech-savvy audience. This is an ideal opportunity for an early-career writer (1–3 years experience) who is passionate about technology and storytelling.
Responsibilities
- Content Research & Writing: Research industry trends in telecommunications, cloud APIs, and Telnyx products to produce authoritative and insightful content. Write clear, concise, and engaging technical blog posts, web pages, and articles that resonate with a niche, technically savvy audience. Use storytelling and real-world examples to demystify complex concepts and highlight Telnyx’s value.
- Social Media Coordination: Coordinate with Product Marketing Managers (PMMs) to plan and publish content on Telnyx’s LinkedIn and X (Twitter) accounts. Craft compelling social media posts and snippets that maintain a consistent voice and engage our community across platforms. Ensure our social content calendar is filled and aligned with product launches, industry events, and marketing campaigns.
- Editing & Proofreading: Edit and proofread marketing content provided by PMMs and other team members for clarity, technical accuracy, and consistency. Polish copy for various materials (blog articles, product announcements, emails, etc.) to ensure it adheres to Telnyx’s style guidelines and quality standards. Serve as a guardian of our brand tone, correcting grammar and refining messaging so that all content is easy to understand and on-brand.
- Content Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, developers, and product managers to gather the information needed for content creation. Translate engineer-speak into user-friendly language without losing technical integrity. Incorporate code snippets or API call examples into blog posts and tutorials when relevant to illustrate how to implement Telnyx solutions. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure technical details are accurate and the content aligns with product messaging.
- Brand Storytelling & Thought Leadership: Craft content that positions Telnyx as an innovator and thought leader in the communications space. Whether it’s a trend analysis post or a how-to guide, frame the messaging to highlight Telnyx’s unique perspective and expertise. Your writing should reinforce Telnyx’s voice as a high-tech, developer-friendly alternative in the telecom industry, helping to build our audience and substantiate our brand authority.
- General Content Support: Assist with other content marketing initiatives and tasks as needed. This includes contributing to case studies, white papers, customer success stories, email newsletters, and basic product documentation or FAQs. Ensure all collateral maintains a consistent tone and supports our overall marketing goals. You’ll also help maintain an organized content library and publishing schedule to keep our output on track.
What we are looking for
- Experience: 1–5 years of experience in technical copywriting, content writing, or a similar role in a tech company – experience in cloud communications, telecom, or software/API platforms is a strong plus. You should have a portfolio of written work that demonstrates your ability to explain technical topics clearly to a target audience.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. (Equivalent practical experience in technical writing or content creation will also be considered.)
- Exceptional Writing Skills: Superior ability to write, edit, and proofread content in English with strong attention to detail. You can adapt your writing style to different formats and audiences without sacrificing clarity or technical accuracy. Grammar, tone, and storytelling flow should be your strong suits.
- Technical Aptitude: Comfortable diving into technical concepts — you can quickly understand APIs, SDKs, and other developer tools and translate that knowledge into accessible content. The ability to incorporate code snippets or sample code into your writing when appropriate, and discuss them intelligently, is required. (You don’t need to be a software engineer, but you should be capable of reading API documentation and basic code examples.)
- Collaboration & Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset. Experience working with subject matter experts (engineers, developers, product managers) to interview and gather information is essential. You’re receptive to feedback and can iterate on content to satisfy both technical and marketing stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Strong project and time management abilities to handle multiple writing projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. You can prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality output. A proactive “get it done” attitude in the face of shifting priorities will serve you well.
- Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with content creation and publishing tools (e.g. Google Docs, CMS platforms) and basic knowledge of social media management. Experience with analytics or SEO keyword research is a bonus – you understand how to optimize content for search visibility and engagement.
- Passion for Technology: A genuine interest in telecom, cloud technology, and developer communities. You stay curious and love learning about emerging tech trends so you can create timely, relevant content. Enthusiasm for Telnyx’s mission to modernize connectivity will help you inspire our readers and users.
