SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER
THE POSITION:
Under general supervision of administrators in Student Welfare and Success and Educational Support Services, School Social Workers promote student success, provide preventative services, and respond to student needs by addressing the academic and social-emotional personal development of all students.

The duties listed are typical, but not exclusive: Identify and provide intervention strategies for children and their families including counseling, case management, and crisis intervention consistent with the district’s mission and goals as developed by the Student Welfare and Success Department. Assist principals and administration in developing and maintaining effective educational program. Assist site administrators and school staff in identifying and responding to the social and emotional needs of students. Establish, maintain and provide linkages with school and community-based resources to ensure that students and their families have access to educational, health, and mental health services. Provide intervention strategies to students individually and in small groups. Push into classrooms to support students as follow up to individual and small group counseling. Conduct researched based individual and/or small group behavioral and guidance activities on topics such as social skills, self-regulation, problem solving, etc. Assess home, school, personal, and community factors that may affect student’s learning. Participate in developing site and district-based PBIS programs. Participate on each site’s PBIS team. Implement district wide social/emotional curriculum at assigned school sites. Review school data frequently to ensure that the school social work program is meeting academic, personal, and social developmental needs of all students. Prepare reports, lists, and all other required information and data. Assist students in conflict resolution. Assist in the mandated Child Find responsibilities. Participate in SST, 504 meetings, and informal parent/teacher conferences regarding behavior, academic, social, and emotional development. Explain and interpret district-wide policies, goals, and objectives to students, parents, and the community that impact students social and emotional needs. Serve with parents, faculty, and other student groups as requested in advancing educational, social/emotional, and other related activities and objectives. Maintain confidential records and reports. Provide in-service for staff, parents, and other district personnel. Assist in resolving behavioral difficulties exacerbated by changes in family structure following death, separation, divorce, incarceration, etc. Attend department-wide School Social Worker meetings. Participate in professional development activities. Participate as a member of the district wide Crisis Team. Conduct threat assessments for students and staff, as appropriate. Perform related work as appropriate.QUALIFICATIONS and DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS Valid credential in pupil personnel services with social work authorization. Experience with the development and implementation of social/emotional curriculum. Experience in providing staff development. Previous experience with intensive behavioral intervention support. Prefer minimum of 2 years working in a school setting. WORK YEAR: 184 Days SALARY: Certificated Salary Schedule “A” BOARD APPROVED: June 12, 2018
