Position Summary
A plumbing Apprentice is an entry-level position that works under the guidance of a more experienced plumber. An apprentice will assist in completing various tasks while working with a qualified plumber. An apprentice workday consists of learning the skills and knowledge to install and repair pipes transporting liquids and gases to and from commercial and industrial buildings. An apprentice will gain experience in how to properly inspect /test installed pipe systems, troubleshoot, and determine the correct equipment and material needed to meet the customers’ needs.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing fixtures, pipes, and other systems
- Install supports before the installation of pipes, equipment, and fixtures.
- Identify and locate leaks.
- Performing cutting and assembling of pipes, tubes, fittings, and fixtures.
- A thorough inspection and testing of plumbing systems for safety, functionality, and code compliance.
- Professional handling of customers' plumbing requests
- Collaboration with contractors, construction workers, and electricians to meet plumbing requirements.
- Review building plans and inspect them to assess material and equipment needs.
Additional Requirements:
· Ability to stand, squat, bend, stoop and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to work in tight/open/high/low spaces
· Ability to work comfortably from a ladder
· Ability to manipulate small objects with fingers
· Ability to work in variable weather conditions
- Ability to pass full background screening and drug screening
- Ability to pass MVR check
- Ability to travel, as needed, for projects or training
