TITLE: Groundskeeper
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Plant and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns of school grounds. Perform general maintenance on landscaped areas surrounding the schools. Assist skilled craft, warehouse technicians and school based staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
- One (1) year of experience in the care and maintenance of grounds (preferred)
- State of Arizona Identity Verified (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License with a clean driving record
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mow lawns, remove debris from stairs and walkways; rake leaves; and edge sidewalks.
- Prune trees and shrubs; plant shrubs; trees and flowers; pulls weeds.
- Check sprinklers; perform irrigation activities; and water trees, shrubs and lawns.
- May operate equipment such as mowers, trucks, skiploaders, chainsaws, brush trimmers, weed whackers, and a variety of hand tools.
- Maintain and repair equipment and tools as needed.
- Assist with moving tables, chairs and other furniture.
- May assist in various custodial duties and the maintenance of other areas.
- Perform maintenance and repair on equipment and tools as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
- Knowledge of equipment, tools, and procedures of grounds care
- Knowledge of the operation, use and routine maintenance of grounds power equipment and tools
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- Skill in operating grounds maintenance equipment
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Hazardous chemicals and dangerous machinery
Exposure to extreme weather conditions
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Lifts, moves, or carries objects weighing up to 80 pounds
Frequently bending, stooping, climbing, reaching
