Job Description
As a Lead Warehouse Associate, you are responsible for pulling and preparing orders for shipment, as well as managing the data entry necessary to complete each order's paperwork. You are also responsible for helping to keep the warehouse space neat and orderly. You are responsible for supervising the other warehouse employees, as well as communicating with the Warehouse Manager to carry out tasks or implement any procedures assigned by your supervisor. This may involve moving inventory and helping with team reorganization efforts. It may also involve more routine cleaning and maintenance duties, as determined by the needs of the day and assigned by your supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform data entry, merchandise check in, and other required quality assurance steps that confirm the contents of each inbound shipment while tracking inventory for the company.
- Receive, verify, stage, and stock incoming material, either independently or as part of a team depending on order size and daily staffing needs.
- Assist with scheduling inbound deliveries as appropriate.
- Ensure the warehouse is cleaned and organized, and that all safety procedures are always being followed by yourself and your teammates.
- Inspect and maintain warehouse equipment including pallet jacks, floor lifts, and basic report any malfunctions, insufficiencies, or necessary repairs through the relevant channels.
- Provide dependable, shift-long coverage of the warehouse facilities to ensure inbound operations operates as efficiently as possible for the duration of the warehouse associate's shift.
- Act as the subject matter expert to ensure effective day-to-day operations of the warehouse as a Warehouse Lead
- Train new associates how to load and unload freight and operate equipment, such as hand trucks, pallet jacks and forklifts safely and efficiently
- Work with management to plan receiving, storing, and shipping tasks
- Perform quality checks and product inspections
- Ensure accuracy and quality of work
- Rotate and train on each aspect of the warehouse / distribution processes (Freight, Returns, Receiving, Restock and Transfers).
- Cross train in all warehouse, Team Lead functions.
- Provide hands-on support for the department.
- Drive compliance with safety, quality, and productivity goals in support of warehouse leadership team objectives.
- Provide recommendations on process improvement and assist with implementation.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
1 plus years of warehouse and forklift experience.
3 plus years of leadership experience.
