The Production Planning & Inventory Coordinator is responsible for effectively and efficiently planning the daily work orders through the plant to ensure optimal customer satisfaction within Tempered and Specialty Metals (TSM).
Responsibilities and Duties
As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Production Planning & Inventory Coordinator. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.
- Review sales orders for accuracy of tag corresponding to customer’s specifications.
- Schedule workflow by process as to priority and customer requirements.
- Plan and determine production schedule to meet on time delivery needs. Production schedules are developed in accordance with sales forecasts and plant/employee capacity.
- Update and publish daily posted lead times for Sales.
- Update and publish daily production schedules per production unit for Operations.
- Maintain and analyze production data to determine efficiency rates and operating performance against planned time.
- Understand risks (downtime, material shortage, etc.) and minimize impact on the production schedule.
- Assemble and track data to identify areas (bottlenecks, routings, consumables, manpower, etc.) and suggest improvements.
- Align with Sales to optimize available raw material, application strategies, rolling abilities, productivity, and overall performance while limiting scrap generation.
- Coordinate efficient fulfillment of multiple orders with the least amount of processing.
- Create the processing plan and apply material according to the order using Stratix.
- Accurately close sales order to ensure proper scrap and restocks are returned in a timely fashion with proper locations and information applied to tags·
- Maintain monthly inventory pipeline information, coordinating review and distribution to GM, Procurement, and Sales management.
- Maintain finished goods inventory levels according to planned reorder points and reorder quantities.
- Create outside work orders.
- Prepare and lead the daily production meeting with Operations and Sales.
- Remain flexible and perform other miscellaneous duties, as required, to meet business targets.
- Provide management with reports as needed.
- Contribute to a positive work environment based on teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and management.
- Adhere to all TSM safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.
- Adhere to all TSM handbook policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in production planning
- One year of experience in understanding machine capabilities
- Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Good organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
- Ability to analyze, track, and maintain accountabilities
- Ability to effectively multi-task and work independently on assigned tasks
- Strong work ethic; self-motivated
- Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of experience in production planning
- Four years of experience in understanding machine capabilities
- One year of experience working in stainless steel industry
- Good knowledge of the Production Module in Stratix
