Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced Infant Teacher to join our team. This role is responsible for providing a safe, loving, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants (ages 6 weeks to 12 months). The Infant Teacher will support early learning through sensory exploration, bonding, and play while ensuring each child’s needs are met with care and attention.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom & Child Development
- Provide a nurturing and responsive environment where infants feel safe and secure.
- Engage in developmentally appropriate activities that promote sensory exploration, social-emotional development, and early learning.
- Follow individualized care routines, including feeding, diapering, and nap schedules, while maintaining detailed records.
- Encourage early language development through singing, talking, and interactive play.
- Support infants in developing fine and gross motor skills through tummy time, grasping, rolling, and movement activities.
Health & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper sanitation of toys, surfaces, and changing areas.
- Monitor infants for signs of illness, discomfort, or developmental concerns and communicate observations with parents and leadership.
- Ensure proper supervision at all times, adhering to child-to-teacher ratios.
Communication & Family Engagement
- Develop strong relationships with families by providing daily updates on their child’s activities, milestones, and overall well-being.
- Collaborate with parents to support infants’ individual growth and development.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and other school events as needed.
Team Collaboration & Professional Growth
- Work closely with co-teachers and staff to create a cohesive and supportive classroom environment.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to a positive school culture that aligns with Temple Chai ECC’s values and mission.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Required: High school diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field.
- At least 6 months previous experience working in a LICENSED childcare or early childhood setting.
- Understanding of infant development and best practices in early education.
- Current fingerprint clearance card, CPR/First Aid certification, and negative TB test (or willingness to obtain before employment).
- Ability to lift and carry infants, sit on the floor, and engage in physical activity throughout the day.
