SUMMARY

 

Coordinate the ARD/IEP process at assigned campuses, including scheduling and conducting IEP meetings, ensuring appropriate services and timely completion and dissemination of paperwork.  Work collaboratively with administrative, assessment and instructional personnel to support service delivery to students with disabilities. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Coordinates/collaborates with regular education personnel to maximize opportunities for student success.
  • Schedules and prepares paperwork for all Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings on assigned campuses.
  • Leads the ARD committee meetings regarding the development of the individual education plan (IEP) and appropriate placement of students eligible for services under IDEA.
  • Implements and follows the ARD agenda during all ARD meetings.
  • Ensures that all federal, state, and district requirements are met when conducting ARD meetings.
  • Makes recommendations to the ARD Committee, when necessary, for educational programming, based on student’s goals, needed services, and federal/state/district requirements.
  • Promptly locks IEP documents and submits paperwork to FHAO and campus staff.
  • Takes deliberations during the ARD meeting and reads them to the committee at the conclusion of the ARD.
  • Ensures all required documents and supplemental forms are reviewed and included in the IEP paperwork.
  • Maintains a positive and effective relationship and communicates professionally with supervisors, Principals, colleagues, and parents.
  • Coordinates with assessment staff and Campus Testing Coordinator to provide appropriate documentation of testing accommodations for state assessments.
  • Assists special education teachers with strategies to help students achieve success.
  • Initiates and maintains effective communications with community and parents.
  • Manages grievances of students, parents, district staff, and others in a constructive manner.
  • Manages a continuing program of professional self-development through attendance at local, regional, and state professional meetings.
  • Keeps informed on latest rules, regulations, court cases, educational trends and materials and disseminates information to appropriate campus personnel.
  • Keeps current on local policies.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by Supervisor/Superintendent.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree; Valid Texas Teaching Certificate; 3 years Special Education teaching experience

 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general educational periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental laws and regulations.  Ability to write reports, educational correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, faculty, parents, students and the community.  Strong communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

REASONING ABILITIES 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

Special Education Certification required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and is regularly required to travel in-district.  The employee must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Salary : $56,918 - $77,118
