ABOUT THE JOBTempleton Rye is looking for a Lab Technician who’s primary responsibility is to perform qualitative and quantitative testing of raw goods, by-products, waste streams and final products. The Lab Technician is to maintain all lab equipment and train Operators on lab tasks that they need to perform.

ESSENITAL FUNCTIONS/THE DAY-TO-DAY

  • Manages quality testing and logs records of all incoming and outgoing process inputs (grain, water, fermentation broth, etc.) and co-products
  • Operates, maintains, and performs preventative maintenance to all lab equipment as per OEM specifications or best practice
  • Ensures required mandatory testing results are collected and reported to the appropriate government agency.
  • Manages testing for Wastewater Treatment Plant and assures regulatory compliance
  • Ensures town, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the laboratory are always met
  • Implements programs and procedures required to ensure laboratory and plant cleanliness
  • Actively participates in cross-departmental meetings and projects
  • Monitors use and inventories of laboratory chemicals and supplies
  • Maintains a documented inventory of spare parts and chemicals
  • Prepares and implements lab SOPs
  • Prepares standards
  • Assist departments in troubleshooting of process upsets
  • Participate in the facility safety program
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues as needed
  • May perform additional duties assigned

AM I THE RIGHT FIT? Education/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Preferred - Secondary education degree and experience in a similar role.

Experience:

  • 0 – 1 year of experience
  • Experience operating and maintaining HPLC’s, GC’s and Densitometer
  • Experience performing lab analysis

Skills:

  • Communication Skills – ability to openly communicate with co-workers and management
  • Mechanical Skills – can maintain laboratory equipment as per OEM recommendations
  • Reasoning Ability – employee can apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Integrity – Can hold themselves and others to the companies and own values
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to teach individuals to small groups

Physical Demands:

  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, sitting, standing, manual dexterity, reaching, visual acuity.
