We are looking for a Financial Analyst to join our Main Office in Nashville. This is a full-time position.
Compensation: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 (Depending on Experience)
Day-to-Day Job Duties:
Develop financial models through benchmarking and process analysis as well as analyze and report on current financial status. Coordinate and participate in the design, testing, implementation, and review of complex manual and automated financial and accounting processes. Keep records of financial transactions while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for the Credit Union by performing the following duties.
Duties/Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position but should not be interpreted as all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Summarizes details in subsidiary ledgers or data files and completes updates to accounting software systems. Verifies, allocates, and posts details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts by journal entry from various source documents.
- Conduct thorough research of historical financial data to forecast quarterly and annual cost projections.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports.
- Analyze financial performance and develop forecast models.
- Assist in managing and coordinating the key financial measures (revenue, gross profit, expense, profit, and cash), and advise on cost-reducing techniques.
- Able to develop automated accounting/financial applications to improve productivity.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank accounts and high importance accounts as assigned. Assists with maintaining the chart of accounts in the core and accounting system, including GL translations, as directed by the Finance or Accounting Supervisor.
- Assists with month-end and year-end close processes, audits, and tax reporting. Prepare ad-hoc accounting reports and analyses as requested.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank accounts and high importance accounts as assigned. Assists with maintaining the chart of accounts in the core and accounting system, including GL translations, as directed by the Finance or Accounting Supervisor.
- Assists with month-end and year-end close processes, audits, and tax reporting. Prepare ad-hoc accounting reports and analyses as requested.
- Records fixed asset acquisitions, dispositions and depreciation in the accounting system and reconcile the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger. Recommends to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets and prepares property tax returns.
- Displays a strong aptitude for and understanding of accounting concepts. Ability to take the lead on more complex accounting assignments and projects. Ability to propose recommendations for new processes and improvements to existing processes to management.
- Effectively communicates with internal personnel and third parties when matters require special coordination. Acts as primary lead in the department to address accounting related questions from other internal departments.
- Participate in budgeting (for departments and projects).
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and investment decisions.
- Gap & Warranty Reconciliation.

- All team members must comply with regulatory compliance and assigned training requirements including but not limited to BSA regulations corresponding to their specific job duties. This includes the SAFE Act. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary and other employment related actions.
- Assists in training new personnel and overseeing the cross-training of Accounting Department staff to maintain backup in all positions.
- Provides accounting information to management and/or other departments as needed.
- Assists in researching outages in the general ledger.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with email communication tools (e.g., Outlook) required.
- Minimum typing speed of 40 wpm and must maintain at least 95% accuracy while typing required.
- A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating, influencing, or training others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
- Must possess strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Experience in or knowledge of banking and finance related to money management and cash flows required.
- Must possess knowledge of cash management, expenditure controls, and disbursement processes.
- Must possess knowledge of federal tax guidelines and laws as they relate to employer and Not-for-profit organizations.
- Must possess knowledge of data processing capabilities and procedures.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees and outside vendors.
- Strong ability to manage time efficiently by organizing, prioritizing, and delegating required.
- Must possess the ability to effectively coordinate many projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy and competency.
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills required.

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from a 4-year college or university required, or equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the functions of the position.
- Minimum five (1-3) years prior accounting experience required, preferably in a credit union or financial institution environment, with demonstrated progressive supervisory experience.
- Experience in or knowledge of financial institution products, services, and records preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Ability to stand, twist, bend, squat, crawl, and climb.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
