Flagger/Traffic Controller

Ten Mile is looking to hire a safety driven Flagger/Traffic Controller.  PRIMARY FUNCTION: to ensure the flow of traffic moves safely around road construction job sites. This includes proper inspection and set up of work zone safety signs/cones, monitoring traffic flow and clean up.  This position plays a crucial roll in ensuring safety for those working on location and preventing accidents.  An extra $8 paving rate (hourly) to be included on to hourly base pay rate when working on "hot mix" asphalt jobs. - Year-round work opportunities in other divisions of the company available during winter months. -

Position requirements:

• Ability to inspect and set up safe work zones with all necessary cones, signs, etc.;
• Use stop/slow paddles to control the flow of traffic;
• Utilize two-way radio to effectively communicate with those around you to monitor traffic flow;
• Ability to twist, turn, bend, stand, etc. as required;
• Must be able to see, hear, speak clearly in order to communicate with employees and/or others around you;
• Lift & carry objects & materials of various weights;
• Push & pull objects-General clean up and supply duties on the jobsite;
• Always aware of potential safety hazards, maintains a safe work environment and makes supervisor/others around you aware of any concerns.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Applicants MUST have valid drivers license and the ability to maintain a DOT Physical to operate company vehicles;
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background/motor vehicle check;
• Report to work at the designated start time;
• Be able to work overtime when required;
• Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold;
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operation and production areas; 
• Assist with general labor duties when necessary; 
• Display a professional and courteous attitude to customers, co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times;
• Attention to detail and surroundings;
• Help maintain company vehicles and equipment by keeping company property clean and in proper working order;
• Report any damaged or unsafe equipment immediately;
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required;
• Great attention to detail and stress tolerance.

Environment
This position will require working outdoors in various climate conditions ranging from very cold with rain to very hot and humid. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high, with occasional periods of time exposed to machine noise.
