Tenant Improvement Interiors is a Charlotte-based Interior Design Firm specializing in space planning and construction documents for Class A Office Space and Industrial Design throughout North and South Carolina. We are searching for a Level I Interior Designer with 2 to 4 years experience to join our team. This position will be under direct supervision of a Project Manager, with the one-year goal of working independently on projects with only guidance and project assignment.
Tenant Improvement Interiors provides space plans in a fast-paced style, performing code research and feasibility studies for our clients, and creates and maintains marketing sheets. We offer a strong working knowledge of the state and local building codes and pride ourselves on long standing collaborative relationships with our clients.

All applicants must be prepared to perform a space-planning exercise as part of the interview process. Our office will supply the tools required. Candidates should allot approximately 90 minutes for this exercise.
Company Specialties:
· Industrial Interior Design and Warehousing Tenant Improvements including (but not limited to): storage & manufacturing facilities, equipment permitting, high-pile racking, and hazardous materials storage.
· Office Design and permitting.
· Restaurant Design and Permitting including commercial kitchen and commissary design.
· Retail Design and Permitting.
Candidate Responsibilities:
· Candidate will be charged with various projects and must be able to prioritize tasks, have the flexibility to manage multiple responsibilities and meet fast-paced deadlines.
· Collaborate conceptually with clients determine and work through their space planning needs.
· Maintain efficient communication and respond to client questions and concerns accurately and professionally.
· Prepare and present preliminary design plans for offices and warehouses of varying size.
· Space planning of new office upfits / renovations of existing spaces with 24-hour typical turnaround.
· Space planning of warehouse equipment and general needs in a large facility with 24-hour typical turnaround.
· Site work to include space verification, client meetings, problem assessment and/or construction administration.
· Prepare Construction Documents for plan review and construction using AutoCAD.
· Serve as project manager for engineering team during design and construction phases.
· Submit drawings and documents to the appropriate Plan Review Jurisdictions having authority.
· Specify FF&E packages.
· Prepare marketing plans for building owners and maintain/update Building CAD files.
Minimum Candidate Skills:
· Graduate of a CIDA-accredited Interior Design or Interior Architecture program.
· 2-4 years of work experience in a Commercial Interior Design setting (residential need not apply).
· Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
· Working knowledge of Sketch Up and Photoshop.
· Knowledge of the IBC and North Carolina State Building Codes and ANSI.
· Basic understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing drawings.
· Attention to detail and the ability to properly document building and site information.
· Professional disposition with excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
Beneficial Candidate Skills:
· A practical understanding of warehousing and manufacturing facilities and equipment.
· Experience with plan review and permitting procedures to obtain building permits.
· Aspires to obtain NCIDQ Certification or other similar industry credentials.
