Summary:  Performs calculations to support system designs, selects components, and prepares detailed schematics, system layouts, bills of material, and quotes for customers, both external and internal. The Application Engineer works with end users, engineering firms, contractors, as well as the company’s own inside customer service team, outside sales representatives, engineering team, and systems build department. Applicants must have the mechanical understanding to envision and design a pump system, understand and adhere to engineered specifications, select pumps and accessories, price the systems, and prepare professional proposals.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Prepare quotations based on technical information provided by or extracted from customers, and review the quote, if necessary, with the sales team and management before sending it to the customer.
  • Provide support for both day-to-day and escalated inquiries regarding product questions, sales, and order taking via phone, email and chat.
  • Maintain accurate records of accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts, and correspondence.
  • Conduct contract review to verify scope of supply including performance guarantees, documentation, calculations, and testing.
  • Support the incoming complex orders to ensure timely, accurate order management in line with customer service.
  • Follow-up each phase of the production schedule regarding delivery status, drawings and equipment information; Work with purchasing, production and/or service to make changes as required keeping the project production schedule on target.
  • Process requests for price, delivery, order status, order expedites and technical product assistance.
  • Support Customer order changes (lead time, shipping conditions, quantity, postponements, rejection, cancellation) and interaction with External Sales, Finance and the Supply Chain.
  • Assist customers with order progression & supply chain issues.
  • Prepare bills of materials accurately, promptly, and clearly.
  • Proactively work with customer or internal stakeholders to obtain detailed information to provide the best solutions for customer needs.
  • Build rapport with customer, vendors, and outside sales personnel. Listen, understand, and convey customer requirements, and always be courteous and professional with customers and vendors.
  • Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application, and keep current on all necessary software used internally. Enhance technical knowledge by studying new product information and participating in training courses, seminars, workshops, and other educational opportunities.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.



Education and/or Experience:  Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline; Associate's Degree will be considered if accompanied with technical work experience in the heavy industry sector. Design experience leveraging software such as CAD and/or Solidworks is strongly preferred.

Language Skills: Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.



Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.



Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills, knowledge of MS Office Software (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook), and internet software. Additionally, s/he should have design experience leveraging software such CAD or Solidworks.
