What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inspection Supervisor position at TenCate Protective Fabrics?
The Inspection Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and managing the daily activities of the Inspection Department while keeping our main objectives in the forefront of all decisions – safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This includes providing assistance to Inspectors on quality related items, as well as communicating quality problems observed at Inspection to Dyeing, Finishing, Knitting and Yarn and Weaving Plant Personnel. Fill out necessary reports and quality alerts and support quality investigations.
Essential Functions

- Ensure the safety of associates in the inspection area.
- Schedule and maintain all external and internal testing requirements specified for each product.
- Solve specific problems that affect internal and external workings of the department and those that affect customers. This involves providing leadership for other shifts.
- Ensure that consistency is maintained between inspectors and to customers. This involves performing audits of inspector’s grading performance and tracking results as requested on time.
- Ensure customer orders or requirements are completed in a timely fashion and in the safety and most efficient manner possible.
- Communicate verbally and written reports on all off quality. This involves providing as much information as possible to aid in the investigation and solving a quality problem.
- Develop and promote individual and team interaction maintaining and improving process controls.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing environment where the worker may be exposed to noise, dust and some chemicals, requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection and non-skid shoes. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and copiers
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, sit, walk, stand, and hear. This employee may be required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch and occasionally lift up to 25 Ibs. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus to perform an activity such as: visual inspection involving small defects, and/or operation of machines (including inspection). May be exposed to heat, flame, chemicals, and noises.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work depend on shift.
Travel
This position requires little to no travel. If travel is required, it is local and for training purposes.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma/GED
- A minimum of 3-5 years of previous experience in a similar role.
