TITLE: Youth Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Tenant and Community Services
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-Time temporary; Non-exempt
PAY RANGE: $18.00 - $21.15/hour
LOCATION: 201 Eddy, San Francisco, CA 94102
WORK TYPE: Onsite
SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Tenderloin After-School Program (“TASP”) Program Supervisor of Activities, the Youth Coordinator will provide program support to TASP Staff. This person will support programs that engage youth,
ages 7-18 years.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Monitoring of Program Activities
- Contribute to an environment that promotes creativity and exploration through learning.
- Help youth with homework and support independent learning activities.
- Support with outside recreation time, run sports and games.
- Depending on skill level, youth coordinator may facilitate activities alone.
- Depending on skill level, youth coordinator may assist with creating new activities.
- Supervise participants on field trips.
- Understand and communicate the importance of doing well in school and having a plan for going to college, vocational school, or entering the workforce after high school.
- Monitor daily snack time and make sure participants clean up after themselves.
- Assist with the preparation of snacks.
- Assist when needed for food distribution.
Administration
- General administrative work (e.g., copies or posters, etc.)
- Daily assistance in cleaning TASP.
- Daily assistance in enforcing program rules.
- Attend all required meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by Program Supervisor of Activities.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to work with youth from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- An interest in a variety of youth programs including technology, art, sports, and
recreation. - Ability to manage youth behaviors and maintain high expectations.
- Strong ability to create and follow systems and procedures.
- Willingness to work and learn.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be enrolled in school or have obtained a high school diploma or GED.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Language Skills: Bilingual Spanish and English or Arabic and English.
- Working knowledge of Restorative Justice principles and practice.
