Respiratory Therapist Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pulmonary Function Testing: Perform a variety of pulmonary function tests, including spirometry, lung volume measurements, diffusion capacity, and bronchial provocation testing.
- Equipment Operation: Operate, calibrate, and maintain PFT equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for testing by explaining procedures, obtaining medical history, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the assessment process.
- Quality Assurance: Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and national standards for pulmonary function testing, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Education and Training: Educate patients about their respiratory health, including disease management and treatment options, as needed. Provide guidance to other healthcare staff on PFT procedures and updates.
Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
- Certification in Pulmonary Function Technology (CPFT or RPFT) is preferred.
- 1 year of clinical experience.
- BLS certification.
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential.
