PURPOSE/SCOPE:
- Tennant's Director, Assistant Controller, Financial Reporting, is responsible for leading Tennant's Corporate accounting and SEC reporting functions. This role ensures the efficient operation and execution of Tennant's accounting processes to facilitate a timely month close. Responsible for managing the research, interpretation and application of technical accounting rules applicable to Tennant overall, in partnership with the Director, Assistant Controller, Operations.
GENERAL RESPONISIBILITIES:
- Manage the preparation and review of all external financial reports filed with the SEC.
- Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 and established best practices to ensure compliance.
- Leadership of the Corporate Accounting department to:
- Execute and communicate Corporate Accounting policies and procedures;
- Oversee the consolidation of worldwide financial data and elimination of intercompany transactions;
- Ensure a timely and accurate month-end close process; and
- Automate accounting and finance processes within SAP as appropriate.
- Establish consistent accounting practices within each affiliate office to ensure compliance with Corporate policies and U.S. GAAP, effectively communicate changes to accounting policies and practices to the broad finance organization
- Perform and/or manage the research of accounting issues to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and to determine possible financial impacts.
- Proactively manage the analysis and formal review process of general ledger accounts to ensure integrity of balances and early identification of potential Balance Sheet exposures.
- Identify, design and implement process improvements to increase the integrity and timeliness of the month-end close process in Corporate Accounting.
- Benchmark with other public companies to identify, share and implement best accounting and financial reporting practices.
- Serve as external audit liaison and coordinate audit deliverables.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field, CPA required
- 10 years of experience in accounting leadership and/or equivalent experience in industry
- Big 4 public accounting work experience
- Strong technical accounting, financial reporting and internal controls background and experience
- Continuous improvement mindset and experience to drive repeatable and efficient processes
