Title: Accounting Assistant
Group: Mission Support Group
Team: Accounting
General Classification: Ministry Assistant (Non-Exempt)
Work Location: Church Support Center
Immediate Supervisor: Controller Time: 100%
Principal Function: Contribute to team’s responsibilities for accounting services including the processing of incoming and outgoing monies, managing accounts, providing accuracy of records, and conducting analysis budget as needed. Specific roles and duties may be adjusted from time to time.
Essential Functions: (Employee must be spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally able to fulfill these assignments and tasks to fill this position.)
- Conduct assigned ministry with “Christ-Like Servant Spirit,” guided by TBMB mission, priorities, strategies, and goals.
- Contribute to all phases of responsibilities to the Mission and Objectives of the organization.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Accounting, bookkeeping, and banking tasks for multiple organizations: TBMB, Conference Centers, BCM’s, other subsidiaries, and TBC Association offices.
- Prepare, batch, review, enter and post to the accounting system. Sales, receivables, payables, bank transactions, and bank transfers. Cross functional but with appropriate separation of duties.
- Accounting system reporting, transactional research, donor acknowledgements, Executive Leadership Team reporting, institutional reporting and constituent support and care.
- Assist with the month-end closing process, year-end closing process and annual audit work.
- Satisfy annual continuing professional education requirements to maintain accounting competency, skills, and best practices.
- Perform all other duties as needed or assigned.
Physical Requirements for Individual in Position:
- Physically able to sit at a desk for an extended period of each day, answer telephone handset, utilize computer keyboard and mouse, and verbally communicate with co-workers and guests in work area.
- Physically move from desk to central work areas for copies, supplies, files, and other materials and able to participate in a variety of staff and other types of meetings.
- Occasional bending, standing, and walking.
- Occasionally lifts and carries up to 25 pounds.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications for Applicants:
Credentials and experience:
- Education: High School diploma required, associate degree or
- Experience: One to three years related work experience
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong math skills, time management skills, and meticulous attention to details.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with NetSuite a plus.
- Effective written, oral, and virtual communication skills.
- Strong ethical, professional, and task driven skills.
