Associate Instructor, Truck Driving, Clarksville

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for two full-time Associate Instructor positions in the Truck Driving program at the Clarksville Campus.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent. Technical diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education with credentials in related field preferred. A comparable combination of related work experience and education may be considered.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an over-the-road driver with an exemplary driving record.
• Must hold a current, valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement. Additional endorsements a plus.
• Willingness to attend training to obtain a CDL 3rd Party Tester certification.
• Prior teaching experience or evidence of ability to teach students preferred.

• Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and to interact tactfully with students, the public, outside agencies and employees at all levels, both written and verbally.
• Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude, and stable personality.
• Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
• Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.
• Must be willing and able to perform administrative duties in a timely manner.
• Must have the ability to work independently and as part of team.
• Basic computer skills to perform data entry, administrative tasks and e-mail.
  
  

GENERAL DUTIES: The Truck Driving Associate Instructors are responsible for working as a team to provide individualized theory and hands-on instruction to adult students to prepare them for employment as commercial truck drivers. Areas of instruction include, but are not limited to: safety regulations; driving techniques for various situations; truck and trailer operation; hazardous materials transportation, etc. The Associate Instructors must monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college’s student records management software and other required databases; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; assist in recruiting new students; assist with graduate placement; develop, maintain and update program curriculum and lesson plans, and participate in professional development. These positions must also maintain good public relations with business and industry; maintain an active advisory committee, and cooperate with outside agencies. Both positions are full-time and report to the Clarksville Campus Director. Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday, minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Scheduled class hours are Monday through Friday. Instruction is delivered in-person. Classes are anticipated to start Summer 2025.

SALARY: $50,142-$60,171 annually ($25.71-$30.86 per hour). Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines and directly related experience.
