Job Purpose
This position designs and implements professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, assists with development of online courses for teaching and training, and supports faculty development in evaluating, adapting and redesigning courses that incorporate technology into the curriculum.
Essential Functions
- Conducts training sessions for faculty and staff to enhance technology skills and seamlessly integrate technology into instruction and productivity.
- Provides training and support on the current management system for delivering online, hybrid, and web- enhanced instruction.
- Assists faculty in analyzing curriculum, course objectives, learning outcomes and instructional needs and developing web, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses.
- Researches, evaluates, and guides implementation of best practices for general education and discipline- specific pedagogies.
- Maintains current knowledge of Federal, State and Accreditation regulations, FERPA, copyright law/fair use, and guidelines relating to Distance Education.
- Assists faculty with defining appropriate instructional technology methods in preparation for learning- centered course design.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to systematically develop technology-driven instructional materials and learning resources.
- Guides faculty on creating ADA-compliant web and hybrid course content using the course management system.
- Designs and maintains course templates in the course management system for newly developed courses.
- Serves as co-administrator for the course management system.
- Serves as the D2L technical liaison, facilitating communication and support between faculty and technical support teams.
- Creates blank semester course shells for each semester course in course management system.
- Imports semester course content for web and hybrid courses as well as courses with required templates.
- Provides day-to-day support for faculty and courses using the course management system.
- Serves as co-administrator for the course streaming web content server (Panopto).
- Co-administrator for the college’s instance of LinkedIn Learning.
- Provides input into planning for future instructional technology directions
- Serves on college committees as appropriate
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelors degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in instructional design or teaching
- Experience with learning management systems and educational technology schools
- Understanding of accessibility standards and online learning best practices
Masters degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Work Characteristics
- Ability to learn and stay abreast of current / upcoming classroom technologies
- Knowledge of technology and software including Microsoft Office Suite, Desire2Learn course management system
- Knowledge of web page layout, image editing,
- Knowledge of multimedia equipment and software
- Knowledge of computer equipment and peripherals
- Decision-making and conflict-resolutions abilities
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Must be able to work with diverse faculty, student, and community members
- Must be able to function effectively as a team member
- Flexible work hours
- Normal sitting and movement in an office environment
- Visual and hand usage of computer terminal and / or PC
