The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for the full-time, on-site position of Associate Instructor in the Cosmetology Program at the Dickson Campus.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Technical diploma from accredited Cosmetology program required; Associates Degree preferred.
- Current, valid Cosmetologist license issued by the TN Board of Cosmetology required.
- Current, valid Cosmetology Instructor license issued by the TN Board of Cosmetology required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of full-time experience as a licensed Cosmetologist within the last five years.
- Teaching, training or salon management experience preferred.
- Must possess a high degree of knowledge in all areas of the instructional field.
- Must commit to remain licensed and maintain program accreditation(s).
SKILLS
- Must show evidence of good character, stable personality, and mature attitude.
- Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with all students.
- Must be willing to remain current in the Cosmetology profession.
- Ability to manage deadlines and work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
- Computer skills required.
GENERAL DUTIES: The Cosmetology Associate Instructor is responsible for providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction in conjunction with a second full-time Cosmetology instructor to prepare students for employment as Cosmetologists. The Cosmetology Associate Instructor will develop, plan, and prepare a complete and progressive course of study including lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aides; monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; enter and maintain student records on a regular basis in the college’s student records management system; assist with recruitment, placement, and follow-up of students; and other duties as assigned. This position must also maintain good public relations with business and industry, maintain an active advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies. All instruction is delivered in-person. Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Class schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
SALARY: $50,142-$60,171 per year ($25.71-$30.86 per hour). Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology guidelines and directly related experience.
