About Tennessee Kids Belong (TKB)

Tennessee Kids Belong (TKB) is a 501c3 organization launched in 2016 under America's Kids Belong. We employ a proven model to significantly enhance the lives of children in foster care by leading several programs and efforts across the state. Our passionate team, many with personal ties to foster care or adoption, works to ensure these children are seen, heard, and feel a deep sense of belonging in family, community, and society. We prioritize child-centered approaches and emphasize emotional intelligence and character alongside traditional metrics for success.

About the Foster Friendly Business Program

The Foster Friendly App connects foster families with businesses offering discounts, services, and support. Families can easily find restaurants, stores, and service providers offering exclusive benefits, ensuring they feel welcomed and valued.

The program mobilizes businesses across Tennessee to support foster families in practical, meaningful ways. By easing financial burdens and fostering belonging, businesses help families continue fostering and thrive.

Foster parents open their homes to children facing loss and trauma, often without enough community support. The Foster Friendly Business Program bridges that gap, ensuring families feel recognized and valued.

Businesses don’t just offer discounts—they offer belonging. A meal, a haircut, or a school supply discount can be the encouragement a family needs to keep going. For foster kids, these moments create lasting impact—a birthday party where they feel celebrated, a first job that changes their future. When foster families thrive, children experience stability, healing, and home.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Grow & Strengthen Business Partnerships

  • Recruit and engage new businesses while maintaining strong relationships with existing partners.
  • Develop and execute outreach strategies to expand local, regional, and national partnerships.
  • Communicate regularly with businesses, collecting feedback and sharing impact stories.
  • Ensure a seamless business partner journey from onboarding to long-term engagement.

2. Expand & Engage Foster Parent Users

  • Increase Foster Friendly App usage among foster families.
  • Build relationships with existing users to ensure awareness and engagement.
  • Partner with foster agencies and support groups to expand program reach.
  • Gather user feedback to improve the app and overall experience.

3. Ensure Quality & Accountability

  • Audit businesses to ensure discounts and commitments are honored.
  • Track and update business participation, addressing issues as needed.
  • Maintain high program standards based on feedback from families and businesses.

4. Empower Regional Staff to Grow the Program

  • Train and equip TKB’s Community Engagement Team on business recruitment and retention.
  • Align program efforts with TKB’s broader mission and team workflows.
  • Identify cross-program opportunities to integrate Foster Friendly efforts into other initiatives.

5. Collaborate on App Development & Tech Enhancements

  • Act as the liaison with American Kids Belong staff and tech contractors to improve the Foster Friendly App.
  • Provide user feedback to enhance functionality, listings, and user experience.
  • Ensure app updates align with program goals and drive increased engagement.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Clear Communicator – Effectively engages businesses, makes compelling asks, and collaborates across teams to ensure program success.
  • Sales Experience – Understands the full customer journey, from initial outreach to long-term engagement. Skilled in lead management, nurturing business relationships, and optimizing recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Tech Oriented – Comfortable using CRMs, spreadsheets, automation tools, and digital platforms to enhance business engagement and improve user experience.
  • Organized and Detail Oriented – Manages multiple partnerships, ensures quality control, tracks program success, and refines approaches based on data and feedback.
  • Mission Driven – Passionate about foster care, community engagement, and making a lasting impact for foster families across Tennessee.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass a background check.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Completion of Trauma-Training course within first 90 days
