What are the responsibilities and job description for the COORDINATOR OF SPORTS INFORMATION AND DIGITAL CONTENT position at Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association?
The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) is a non-profit organization serving nearly 1,000 member senior high and middle schools. The organization sponsors 25 sports and conducts 99 championships at the high school level. At the middle school level, the organization sponsors 9 sports and conducts 20 championships. In addition to conducting the aforementioned sports and championship events, the TSSAA serves its members by encouraging student participation through the platform of education-based athletics. The organization provides systems of support by maintaining standards of eligibility, promoting sportsmanship, resources for recognizing academic achievement, professional development for coaches and administrators, and the most current data supporting the health and safety of student-athletes.
The TSSAA office is located in Hermitage, Tennessee, approximately twenty minutes from downtown Nashville.
POSITION
TSSAA is excited to announce the newest addition to our team - a Coordinator of Sports Information and Digital Content. This position is integral to increasing our digital footprint and highlighting the amazing achievements of our students, member schools, and overall organization. The selected individual will serve as a bridge between TSSAA and our digital audience by generating and managing engaging and informative content across our websites and social media platforms. This will involve discovering and chronicling the inspiring and exceptional stories that occur within our ranks, such as the achievements of our student-athletes, administrators, coaches, and contributors, as well as bringing light to the impactful initiatives we undertake.
Additionally, the Coordinator - in collaboration with staff members responsible for championship events, media, and technology - will ensure our websites are consistently up-to-date, user-friendly, and visually appealing.
Furthermore, this individual will help the Director of Media Relations and the Director of Marketing to implement effective strategies that elevate our digital presence, increase our audience engagement, and reinforce our commitment to the athlete's education and sportsmanship.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree and has at least three years of experience in related fields such as public relations, journalism, digital content management, sports information, sports administration, or education. A track record of successful social media practices and public relations strategies and solid experience in content management systems and website maintenance are essential. This role will also require excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will have experience writing short feature articles and be proficient in handling and editing still photos and videos. Being open to travel to state championship events and meetings on nights and weekends is also a prerequisite. Candidates who are experienced with advanced office software such as Excel or databases will be preferred.
SALARY & BENEFITS:
The salary for this position is negotiable, with a minimum of $55,000 and will be commensurate
with the applicant’s experience and qualifications. Additionally, we offer a considerable benefits package.
