The overall purpose of this job is to provide professional development hours through our TECTA Orientations and consultation services for individuals working in Early Childhood programs in our service area, which includes the following counties: Putnam, Jackson, Cumberland, Macon, Pickett, Fentress, Smith, DeKalb, Cannon, Warren, Van Buren, and Clay.

Essential Functions
Administer and teach the Tennessee Early Childhood Training non-credit coursework (Orientation) using the statewide TECTA curriculum for Early Childhood Educators. Collaborate with local early care and education programs, professional organizations, community agencies, businesses, industries, and families in our service area to ensure that the training and education needs of state-regulated Early Childhood Educators programs are fully met. Provide technical assistance, model teaching and/or consultation to Early Childhood Educators. Assist students with admitting and registering for college-level courses. Conduct CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) Observations. Provide leadership and support to early childhood educators organizations and partner agencies through committee memberships, conference presentations, technical assistance, and related special projects at the local, state, and national level. Participate actively in early childhood professional organizations. Keep abreast of current literature and research related to child development, the child care field and the child care workforce. Attend professional development training through local, state and national organizations/agencies to stay abreast of early childhood trends and issues. Maintain all program data and documentation (TECTA Database). Compile and submit accurate reports in a timely manner and in compliance with contract stipulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education or related field. Four years of experience working in Early Childhood Education and three years of teaching experience. Excellent interpersonal communications and organizational skills. Working knowledge of Tennessee Child Care Licensing requirements. Knowledge and experience of training techniques for adult learners and the specific needs of early childhood educators. Proficient in software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access). Ability to adapt to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities. Ability to manage time, priorities, and resources to achieve goals. Ability to travel to appointments, meetings, and training sessions which may require overnight stay. This position requires nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education or related field.
Work Hours
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed. Required to work some nights and weekends. Travel is required.
Compensation And Benefits
Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Pay grade 7. As a full-time grant funded position, its continuation is contingent upon future funding. Benefits Information
