The Assistant Director for Experiential Education with the Center for Career Development provides leadership and coordinates cooperative education (Co-op), internships, and career paths to promote career development for Tennessee Tech students. This role is a key member of Center for Career Development team and participates in Center activities including professional development, career advising, and employer relations and stakeholder management.

Essential Functions
Direct and manage the University’s cooperative (Co-op) education program, internship opportunities, and experiential education. This includes developing and promoting each program, appointments, and ensuring students enrolled are following college/departmental guidelines regarding assignments. Assess students’ and alumni career interests and goals to provide career coaching, counseling, and career advising including resume preparation, job search strategies, and interview skills. Plan, deliver or co-lead the implementation of career education/career readiness programming (knowledge and skill-building) including individual assistance, small and large group workshops, panel discussions, and e-learning/media programs. Analyze job markets and trends as they relate to students’ co-op, internship, job, graduate school outcomes, and incorporate results into coaching students and Career Development programming. Build and maintain relationships with faculty, department chairs, Deans, and employers to remain responsive to the changing needs of Career Development stakeholders. Support day-to-day operations and other programs/events hosted by the Center for Career Development.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business, Education, or related field of study. Four years of related professional experience in talent acquisition, human resources, or another industry-related position. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Demonstrate ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent organizational and project management skills. Highly proficient in standard office applications/software and demonstrate ability to utilize computer applications, manage spreadsheets, and documents, and create reports.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Higher Education, Communication, Leadership, Human Resources, or related field of study. Experience working within higher education. Demonstrates knowledge of theoretical foundations of career development and experience with practical application and delivery of principals within a higher education environment. Experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating comprehensive career development programming or related experience in human resources/workforce development and training. Ability to analyze career and job outlook data as related to academic program curriculum and student development needs. Ability to utilize social media and other current communication tools to connect and engage with college students and external campus partners. Experience with Banner (Student Information System). Experience with course creation and content management using a Learning Management System (e.g., BrightSpace or D2L).
Work Hours
Typical work hours are 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday – Friday. May occasionally work nights and weekends depending on programs and events.

Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Pay grade 9. Benefits Information
Tennessee Tech offers a competitive benefits package. Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits.
