Job purpose is routine and preventive maintenance of all campus heating and cooling systems.

Essential Functions
Performs routine and preventive maintenance of all campus heating and cooling systems. Troubleshoots, repairs and replaces hydronic heating and cooling components including underground steam and chilled water distribution systems. Services direct expansion refrigeration systems. Troubleshoots repairs, replaces, calibrates and installs controls systems and related components (direct digital control (DDC), pneumatic and electric control systems). Services related electrical power and control components.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Four years of experience in air conditioning and heating or similar experience with knowledge of electrical work. Ability to maintain and repair centrifugal chillers and cooling devices. Ability to perceive small differences in object and spatial relationships. Willingness to work until all demands are met. Ability to attend to details. Ability to use and maintain electrical, mechanical and pneumatic equipment. Skill in making precise manipulations with simple hand tools. Ability to read drawings and follow instructions. Ability to read and interpret control and logic diagrams. Ability to plan and organize one’s own work. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Knowledge of tools and equipment used to perform tasks. Knowledge of electrical test equipment to troubleshoot small motors. Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with centrifugal air conditioning systems. CFC Universal Certification.
Work Hours
Typical hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This position works a rotating on-call schedule.
Compensation And Benefits
Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Pay grade 8. Benefits Information
The University offers a competitive benefits package. Benefits include the initial accumulation of one vacation day per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen (13) University holidays.
