This is an entry-level engineering position focusing on maintaining the system model for the TVA service territory, including line & transformer impedance calculations, facility ratings to maintain compliance with NERC FAC-008, developing power factors, & modeling future capital projects in the 10yr planning horizon.
The ideal candidate for this position should be detail-oriented and a self-starter demonstrating a positive attitude, good work ethic, and strong communication skills. Emphasis in Power is a plus, including exposure to relaying & symmetrical components.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The primary purpose of this job is to plan a reliable interconnected transmission and telecommunication system at the lowest feasible cost; ensure that those systems are continually operated in a secure and dependable manner; and provide the necessary information for the sale and proper management of transmission and ancillary services for the benefit of all customers connected to the TVA system.
Under the guidance of the lead engineer or other engineers. Consistent with his/her level of experience, the incumbent assists in carrying out these responsibilities using various types of power system, telecommunication, and engineering economic analyses.
This position is an entry level engineering position focusing on maintaining the system model for the TVA service territory, including line & transformer impedance calculations, facility ratings to maintain compliance with NERC FAC-008, developing power factors, & modeling future capital projects in the 10yr planning horizon.
As an Engineer Level electrical engineer working on transmission planning, telecommunication planning, or transmission security analysis in support of the total transmission system at TVA, the incumbent carries out progressive assignments commensurate with his/her present skills and experience. The incumbent will often require the assistance of higher-level engineers and other technical personnel. The complexity of these assignments will increase over time leading to the development of skills and knowledge required of higher-level engineers.
May occasionally give directions to technicians and other support personnel.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Higher level engineer or supervisor screens assignments for unusual or difficult problems and selects techniques and procedures to be applied on non-routine work. Incumbent receives close supervision on new aspects of assignments. May receive direction and/or training on job-specific, technical matters from lead or other engineers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
B.S. Degree in electrical engineering from an accredited curriculum required.
Power Systems and/or Telecommunications concentration is desirable.
EIT Certification is desirable.
