JOB SUMMARY:
The primary goal of this internship is to provide a unique hands-on experience in both information technology and information security within TVFCU’s Information Technology department. Qualified interns will have the opportunity to provide technical support to end-users, ensure the security and up-to-date status of the organization's desktop infrastructure, and participate in implementing IT security systems to protect against cyber-attacks. Interns will gain practical experience in IT support and information security, working in a collaborative environment with ample opportunities for learning and personal growth, contributing to the organization's IT operations and security initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist end-users in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Aid in installations, configurations, and upgrades of desktop computers, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
- Document processes and provide training to users on Help Desk related tasks.
- Assist in managing and maintaining the organization's desktop infrastructure.
- Participate in operating system deployments, software distribution, and patch management.
- Ensure systems are secure and up-to-date with security patches.
- Help create and manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Ensure appropriate levels of security and data integrity are maintained.
- Assist in monitoring the organization's networks for security breaches.
- Participate in installing and using security hardware/software (firewalls, DLP, DE) to protect sensitive information.
- Contribute to research on the latest IT security trends and technologies.
- Contribute to updating documentation and procedures for IT systems.
- Provide training to staff regarding security policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other IT teams for seamless integration and troubleshooting.
- Communicate effectively with end-users to understand their needs and provide timely solutions.
- Complete necessary reports and updates as required by management.
- Maintain knowledge of branch operations by completing Deposit Regulation and Product and Service Certification courses.
- Proactively demonstrate the TVFCU core values of integrity, honesty, flexibility, teamwork, leadership, accountability and strong relationships in every interaction with members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
The TVFCU Internship Program is designed for undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds who are considering careers in business, economics, finance, accounting, marketing, information technology, human resources, and other related fields. This internship supports TVFCU’s goal of expanding access and opportunities in financial services careers for students from historically underrepresented communities.
- Candidates must be 18 years of age
- Minimum 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale (must provide transcripts)
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors working toward a Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field
- Ability to work part-time or full-time hours for the summer (25-40 hours/week, generally 8am-5pm Monday-Friday)
- Able to commit to the full internship of 10 weeks (weekends may be required)
