Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist

Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist is responsible for assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This role involves the safe operation of specialized equipment, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining sterile techniques throughout procedures. The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist provides direct patient care, monitors patient status, and collaborates with the healthcare team to deliver optimal cardiovascular services.
Essential Functions
- Assists physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures, ensuring adherence to sterile techniques and safety protocols.
- Prepares and operates specialized cardiovascular equipment, including monitoring and recording physiological data throughout procedures.
- Monitors patient status before, during, and after procedures, assessing and documenting vital signs and making adjustments as necessary.
- Administers medications as directed by the physician, following established guidelines for patient safety.
- Prepares and maintains a sterile field, ensuring that all necessary supplies and instruments are available for each procedure.
- Educates patients and families on procedure expectations, providing support and addressing any concerns.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory or similar cardiovascular setting required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and cardiovascular procedures.
- Proficient in using specialized cardiovascular equipment and maintaining a sterile field.
- Strong patient assessment and monitoring skills, with the ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient status.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment and respond quickly to emergency situations.
Licenses and Certifications
- RCIS - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support obtained by the end of the month after 90 days of employment required
