The Opportunity :

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel – Contracts and Compliance to support our client’s legal team. This role can be structured as a permanent position or a secondment to permanent opportunity. The Senior Legal Counsel will provide legal support to commercial and operational teams, focusing on high-level contract negotiations, managing legal risks, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Key Details :

  • Commitment : Full-time; Permanent or Secondment-to-Permanent.
  • Location : Hybrid, Houston, TX.
  • Start Date : Immediate.
  • Compensation : $175,000 base salary 20% performance bonus.

Responsibilities : Contracts :

  • Draft, review, negotiate, analyze, and advise on agreements, including Master Service Agreements, sales contracts, supplier agreements, and nondisclosure agreements.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with global operations, such as bids / tenders, contract performance, liability, and compliance.
  • Develop and improve contract management processes to enhance efficiency and reduce risk exposure.
  • Provide training to internal teams on contractual obligations and legal risks.

    • Privacy and Compliance :

  • Assist in implementing the company’s Global Privacy and Compliance Programs, including conducting compliance investigations.
  • Develop training and guidelines to help stakeholders understand data protection and privacy issues.
  • Support global initiatives to foster a strong culture of compliance.

    • General Duties :

  • Collaborate with internal departments, including finance, sales, supply chain, and manufacturing, to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Provide specialized legal advice, analysis, and transactional support on contract interpretation, oil and gas disputes, and complex transactions.

    • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor (JD).
  • Active license to practice law in Texas or another U.S. state, with membership in good standing with the applicable State Bar.
  • Minimum of 7 years of legal experience, including in-house counsel roles or law firm experience advising clients in the oil and energy services industry.
  • At least 3 years’ experience supporting a complex global organization.

    • Preferred Skills and Experience :

  • Experience with global privacy and compliance issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to tailor advice to audiences at all organizational levels.
  • Strategic thinker with exceptional judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
