Job Summary
Tentinger Landscapes is an award-winning landscape design & installation company located in Maple Park, IL. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accountant/Office Manager with experience using Quick Books Online software to oversee the financial and administrative functions of our office. Knowledge of Aspire (Landscape Software) is a plus. This dual-role position requires someone who can manage accounting tasks while maintaining smooth daily operations in the office. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent multitasking abilities, strong communication skills, and a passion for efficiency and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Duties
- Manage all aspects of accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R), ensuring timely processing and payment.
- Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare adjusting journal entries as needed.
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule, including tax filings and compliance.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and other financial records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Oversee budget preparation, tracking, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and local/state/federal regulations.
- Collaborate with external accountants and tax preparers as needed.
- Work with outside accounting firm on improving financial reporting including annual budget
Office Management Duties
- Manage day-to-day office operations, ensuring a professional and efficient workplace.
- Supervise office support staff and coordinate with vendors and service providers.
- Oversee office supply inventory, purchasing, and equipment maintenance.
- Act as the point of contact for employee questions about office policies and procedures.
- Support HR functions, including onboarding, benefits coordination, and record-keeping.
- Handle correspondence, scheduling, and administrative tasks for senior management.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- 3 years of experience in accounting or office management roles.
- QuickBooks Online experience is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Aspire software is preferred.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with a keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge of HR functions and compliance is a plus.
