ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Geologist to have technical expertise in environmental investigations and remediation, including site characterization, soil, and groundwater sample collection, mapping groundwater elevations, developing geologic cross-sections, logging soil borings, IDW management, monitoring well installation oversight, and reporting. This role will work on multiple projects, maintain project schedules, and complete work safely and per approved work planning documents.

Job Functions:

  • Supports preparation of work planning documents and associated deliverables.
  • Assists with cost estimates and proposals for projects.
  • Provides interpretation of subsurface conditions and develops geology-related portions of conceptual site models.
  • Supports field investigations, data collection, subcontractor oversight, and implementation/operation & maintenance of remediation systems.
  • Assists with preparation of after-action reports, remedial action completion reports, groundwater monitoring reports, site investigation reports, and other data deliverables.
  • Develops technical fact sheets, briefings, and programmatic status reports.
  • Researches and trains on innovative technologies.
  • Performs research and quantitative data analysis in support of a broad range of technical projects.
  • Prepares groundwater contour and chemical isoconcentration maps.
  • Reviews reports to assess functional and technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory guidance.
  • Travels to client and project sites as needed.
  • Coordinates with and oversees subcontractors including drillers, remediation contractors, waste haulers, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or an equivalent fieldthat meets Professional Geologist (PG) registration requirements
  • 3-7 year of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfill commitments on schedule and meet clients' service expectations and requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building working relationships and interacting with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills, including logical thinking, attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness, as well as a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet multiple schedule deadlines
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel

Preferred Education and Experience (not required):

  • On track for PG registration
  • Prior federal and DoD experience
  • 40-hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and annual refreshers
  • 30-hour OSHA Construction Industry Outreach Safety Certification
  • Familiarity with GIS mapping and data analysis
  • Familiarity with Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) programs and Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), and United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) clients
